India Wins the Asia Cup: 2025

India won against Pakistan by 5 wickets and took the Asia Cup 2025 trophy for the ninth time in Asia Cup history. A thrilling contest which kept the cricket fans glued to their television sets, Tilak Varma led the team by steadying the innings.

India invited Pakistan to bat first after winning the toss and they were off to a bad start in the bowling department as Shibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman added an 84-run opening wicket partnership. Farhan dominated Bumrah as the India star leaked 18 runs in his first two overs.

Things, however, took a drastic turn as soon as Farhan emerged out in the 10th over, with a change in momentum kicking in. Farhan then produced a blazing spell where he took four wickets for 30 runs from his allotted four overs, and Pakistan’s batting order was reduced to dust and bowled out for 146 runs.

India’s batting once again started with a wobbly beginning as they lost three wickets for a mere 20 runs, one of which was in-form star Abhishek Sharma. But Tilak Varma held strong to his ground and formed two decent stands with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube to take India home. Rinku Singh plays the winning shots.

Asia Cup 2025 prize money announced:

The Asia Cup 2025 winner will receive USD 300,000 (around ₹2.6 crore) on Sunday in Dubai, a huge leap from the earlier editions, as per a report in the Economic Times. Defending title-holders India will play Pakistan in the final of Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai, hosted in the T20 format, with the T20 World Cup next year in mind.
There is also a 50 percent boost in prize money for the winner in this year’s edition compared to in 2023 (USD 250,000) and 2022 (USD 200,000) editions. While the runner-ups in Asia Cup 2025 will get USD 150,000 (around ₹3.2 crore). Even though there has not been an official announcement from the Asia Cricket Council (ACC), but the latest hike is a testament to the increase in the stature and commercialization of the tournament.
